In this follow-up to “Building Queer and Trans Inclusive Schools: Educating Ourselves (Part 1)”, participants will have the chance to apply what they have learned already, as well as an additional understanding of social forces and structures that impact the LGBTQ+ community. This training will prepare participants to navigate conversations and situations with colleagues, youth, teachers, and administrators around LGBTQ+ identities and issues.
Attendees will leave this session with a knowledge of the following:
- existing research on the experiences of LGBTQ+ youth in schools
- key terms and the various identities under the LGBTQ+ and TGD (trans and gender diverse) umbrellas
- school policies that could impact this demographic, practices to actively and intentionally promote inclusivity
- a list of resources and organizations to support LGBTQ+ youth.
