Every year, approximately 98,000 undocumented students graduate from high school, yet only 5-10% of them go onto college. High school counselors and educators can play an important role in providing resources and guidance on the college admission process and financial aid for undocumented students. This session supports educators in building knowledge and skills in order to effectively support immigrant students through the college-admissions process.
By attending this session, attendees will leave with…
- An understanding of key federal and NY state policy that impacts college access for undocumented students
- Resources on private scholarships, programs and a college checklist for undocumented students
- The ability to build skills in culturally responsive and trauma-informed practices to support undocumented families through the college application process
