Differentiating Tasks or Text Through a Language Lens for MLLs/ELLs (Part I)

In this two-part series* on Confianza’s “Task Makeover Protocol,” participants will learn about providing language supports that benefit ALL students, designing instruction to provide access to complex texts and academic discussion for MLLs/ELLs, and implementing the Task Makeover Protocol for intentional linguistic planning, teaching, and assessing.

In Part 1, we will:

  • Explore Making Complex Text Comprehensible for EL Students
  • Analyze foundations of supporting MLLs and ALLs through the lens of language
  • Work on a grade level text or task with a clear content standard and complex, academic language to makeover/amplify for future use with students
