Please join representatives from the National Center on Special Education in Charter Schools, Brooklyn Lab and Mott Haven Academy to discuss national trends emerging across the country as well as specific practices leading to strong outcomes for students with disabilities in New York.
NCSECS will introduce its Centers of Excellence initiative designed to highlight effective practices across the country and share highlights from a recent analysis of the Civil Rights Data Collection. Brooklyn Lab personnel will share details related to their innovative staffing model developed to address the chronic shortage of special education teachers and Haven Academy will share insights developed from implementation of their whole school approach to supporting students’ social and emotional learning, especially for students who experienced trauma. Following introductions and brief presentations, the panel will engage in a discussion with participants regarding key lessons and strategies to adopt effective practices.
A sandwich lunch will be provided but feel free to bring your own lunch.
