In Part Two of this three-part National Speaker Series*, participants will learn how to “unwrap” Priority Standards, or how to analyze and deconstruct the wording of each Priority Standard within units of study to pinpoint exactly what students need to know and be able to do as an essential way of gaining the needed clarity of student learning outcomes. We will also explore the second part of the “unwrapping” process, which includes determining Depth of Knowledge (DOK) levels of cognitive rigor for each “unwrapped” skill-concept pair, which in turn will guide the design of assessment questions directly aligned to those identified levels of rigor.
Attendees will walk away with an understanding of how to deconstruct a Priority Standard in any content area and determine its level(s) of rigor so as to align both assessments and instruction to the identified rigor.
