(Previously referred to as “CPI part 1”)
ONLY for Enhanced and Premier members of the NYC Special Education Collaborative.
Through training in CPI’s Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI), participants will develop prevention strategies for safely defusing anxious, hostile, or violent behavior at the earliest possible stage. Participants will learn how behavior escalates and how to respond appropriately. By utilizing discussions, role-plays and activities, attendees will leave the session with certification in verbal de-escalation and physical disengagement skills by the Crisis Prevention Institute and strategies to support students and staff in moments of crisis.
Holding skills will NOT be covered in this session. Holding skills are only covered in full-content courses, available only to Premier members.
