Many of our go-to math scaffolds aim to make the abstract more concrete. From manipulatives to visual representations, math educators understand the value of these scaffolds. However, when and how do we begin to take these scaffolds away? In this three-part series* with math expert Dr. Nicki Newton, we’ll explore effective math scaffolds, how to introduce them, AND how to begin to phase them out.
In this follow up session, Dr. Nicki participants will discuss and explore the power of manipulatives in math. Participants will learn about how manipulatives can build deep conceptual understanding across the grade levels and deep dive into the 5 top manipulatives that can be used across grade levels. Participants will leave with practical tools and strategies they can begin using right away.
