Rethinking Professional Learning: Facilitating Powerful Adult Learning Experiences (Part 2)

May 6 @ 9:00 am - 10:30 am

Professional learning experiences offer an incredible opportunity to empower educators to stretch their practice. However, too often, these events are one-size, fits all episodes. Together with national education expert Allison Rodman, we will explore a professional learning design cycle focused on priming, ushering, launching, socially constructing, and extending the learning loop beyond face-to-face engagements. We will examine ways to promote social construction during professional learning and consider the integral role reflection plays in the growth process. Finally, participants will leave with tools and processes to guide their professional learning planning and facilitation to craft true experiences – not just events.

In Part 2 of this 2-part series*, attendees will leave with strategies to apply the “PULSE” professional learning design cycle of priming, ushering, launching, socially constructing, and extending the learning loop; ways to promote social construction during professional learning, including text- and video-based collaboration, strategy and example sharing, scaffolded application, and opportunities for reflection; and ideas for extending the learning loop between professional learning engagements to accelerate progress and deepen community.

Presenter: Allison Rodman

*Note: Collaborative members will use only ONE (1) National Speaker Series seat to attend this two-part series.
