School social workers and counselors are often called to solve a range of issues and accomplish a multitude of tasks, sometimes outside of their job description. They often do this work with limited resources and supports. This session is solely dedicated to the school social worker and counselor experience. Participants will reflect on their current roles, and learn about organizational tools and resources to support their practice. This is an interactive workshop. Participants are not asked to disclose any confidential information regarding their clients or specific school community.
By attending this session, attendees will leave with:
- a deeper understanding of the role of the social worker/counselor in schools and how to define/convey this role to the larger school community
- a clear set of the tools and strategies for managing caseloads, finding intervention tools, connecting with community partners, building workshops for students and teachers, evaluation and assessment tools, crisis protocol supports, communication tools, and more
