Supporting MLL/ELLs in the Reading & Writing Workshop

October 15 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

This session is focused on supporting MLL/ELLs in the Reading and Writing Workshop. Educators will be presented with differentiated instructional strategies for supporting learners at all language proficiency levels throughout all stages of the Reading and Writing Workshop: planning units of study, whole-group instruction, guided learning experiences, small-group instruction, and reflection and sharing. The instructional strategies and suggestions will include informational and fiction units of study with classroom teaching and differentiation examples, suggested children’s literature and student examples.

  • Attendees will leave with instructional ideas for supporting MLL/ELLs at all stages of language proficiency in the Reading and Writing Workshop.
  • Attendees will acquire practical differentiation techniques for whole-group, small-group, independent reading and writing work, and reflection opportunities.
  • Practical examples and classroom resources will be provided.
