Supporting Middle & High School Students with Speech or Language Impairments

March 1 @ 3:15 pm - 4:30 pm

Wondering how to best support middle and high school students with speech or language impairments? Students may become frustrated from being routinely tasked with higher-order, “big picture” questions and writing prompts because the complexity of the material is difficult to comprehend. In addition, deficits in foundational language skills lend challenges that may lead to submitting incomplete assignments or abandoning them in their entirety. This session will explore techniques that support students who experience difficulty across the language hierarchy, while maintaining engagement by empowering students through use accessible strategies and tools.

Facilitator: Shaune Borne and Lindsay Foley (CitySounds)
