Supporting Newcomer MLLs/ELLs in Secondary Content Classes

Do you have students new-to-English in your content classroom? This session provides concrete, practical strategies for making grade-level content lessons comprehensible for secondary newcomer MLLs/ELLs even on the first day. In this interactive session, you will experience learning content in a new language and apply those strategies to your own lessons to help ALL students, especially your Entering and Emerging multilingual learners.

By attending this session, attendees will leave with…
– at least 10 practical strategies for making elementary content comprehensible for beginning level multilingual learners
– a lesson sequence that develops language through content
