Supportive Space for Educators of Color: A People of Color Affinity Group

April 12 @ 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm

This group will be an informal supportive space for educators of color to build community and strengthen their self-advocacy tools and anti-racist pedagogy. We will engage in dialogue about racism, oppression, and its impact on educators of colors, students and the communities in which we work. We will also discuss best practices for self-care, self-advocacy, and practicing anti-racist pedagogy and anti-racist dialogue within school spaces. This group is ongoing, and welcomes new participants to drop-in.

This month we welcome, Tim Garcia, educator and diversity equity trainer, who will join our Educators of Color Supportive Space to discuss building equity initiatives in educational spaces, and sustaining momentum with diversity and inclusion initiatives. Please join us in conversation and community, to share best practices, the Do’s & Don’ts, and support folks in strategizing their school-based initiatives.

Facilitators: Michelle Grier and Tim Garcia

*Members do NOT need permission from a school leader to register for this seat-free event, despite the checkbox in the registration page.
