Recent research has shown that traumatic childhood experiences are much more common than previously known or recognized. These experiences have a profound impact on a student’s ability to function in the classroom and learn. In this highly participatory workshop, teachers will learn what trauma is, how it affects the young people in our care, and how it manifests in the classroom. We will look at how Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) impact the still-developing brain and what can be done to create more trauma-aware and sensitive environments to support student learning.
This event is intended for elementary educators.
