According to federal disability law IDEA, Specially Designed Instruction is mandatory for students with IEPs and should aim to address the unique needs the student has as a result of their disability so as to provide access to grade-level content. As educators serving in an ICT setting, co-teachers who attend this session have a unique opportunity to learn how to leverage the power of 2 to provide this legally mandated, but more importantly impactful, SDI.
Throughout this interactive afternoon session, participants will explore practical accommodations, see them modeled, and learn to apply them into upcoming lesson plans. From there, they will walk through steps to planning a lesson and embedding Specially Designed Instruction. Participants will walk away from this session with lots of applicable tools and strategies for planning robust and targeted lessons for students with disabilities.
