In this full day, in-person session, counselors and social workers will have the opportunity to network with peers, learn and share best practices, and feel empowered to better support their school communities for a strong SY23-24.
In the morning session, the SWEET Institute will walk participants through identifying signs, behaviors, and manifestations of trauma in children and adolescents. We’ll explore tools to address these behaviors in counseling sessions, as well as ways to support teachers when these behaviors arise in the classroom. Anyone with LMSW, LCSW, LMHC or psychologist licensures in NYS will be able to get three hours toward their annual continuing education units (CEUs)!
In the afternoon, we’ll learn from Maria Garcia, who will focus on anxiety-related behaviors, aggression in the classroom, and post-COVID lagging social skills. Participants will walk away with strategies to utilize in sessions, as well as tools to support teachers in the classroom.
