This session seeks to address how to break down language barriers and explicitly teach instructors how to differentiate instruction specifically to support MLLs/ELLs of all proficiency levels. Participants will explore high leverage research-based methods when differentiating instruction by content, process, and product to address language development throughout a lesson, regardless of content area. Work time will be given for participants to apply their learnings and edit a lesson with strategies discussed in the workshop.
By attending this session, participants will be able to:
- Define what differentiated instruction is and it’s importance for MLLs/ELLs
- Understand how to differentiate instruction for MLLs/ELLs through content, process, and product
- Apply learnings to an upcoming lesson plan
- Plan for next steps in differentiation for their MLL/ELL students in their classrooms

The facilitator will provide participants the necessary materials, coaching, and work time to plan how to disseminate the session information to staff.
