High quality IEPs are an essential component in ensuring equity and access for our students with disabilities. By ensuring that IEP goals are aligned to general education standards, students with disabilities are included in general education practices and instruction, creating an alignment. When careful planning occurs with this alignment, ALL students benefit from many of the specially designed instruction practices. In this session, leaders will learn a simple 4-step process to align current educational standards to IEP goals and learn how these goals can be incorporated into curriculum-based lesson plans to deliver specially designed instruction. This session will also introduce administrative “look fors” and infrastructure practices to support teachers in their special education practice.
